Job Description




As a Security Officer - Access Checkpoint Driver in Joliet, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an Allied Universal Officer in an access control role at a chemical and petrochemical location, you will greet employees and visitors, verify credentials, manage entry points, and document activity while supporting site procedures. You will remain visible, conduct routine patrols, and communicate clearly with site teams to help to deter security-related incidents. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver's license, backed by an agile, reliable, innovative, caring team that leads with integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a chemical and/or petrochemical location.
  • Control access at entry points by checking identification, issuing temporary badges, managing visitor and contractor logs and verifying authorization for restricted areas.
  • Screen and direct vehicles, deliveries and service providers to approved checkpoints, helping to deter unauthorized entry and/or prohibited items.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting events and notifying site contacts and/or emergency services as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, process areas and the perimeter, reporting unusual conditions and/or maintenance concerns per site procedure.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
