The Senior Compensation Consultant serves as a strategic partner and subject matter expert on compensation design, market competitiveness, and pay governance. This role leads complex analyses, advises leaders on compensation decisions, and supports the development and administration of enterprise-wide compensation programs that attract, retain, and reward top talent. The Senior Compensation Consultant operates with a high degree of independence, providing guidance on compensation strategy, pay structures, survey benchmarking, and regulatory compliance.

This position is eligible for remote work for candidates residing in the following states: DC, DE, FL, GA, MD, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV

Job Responsibilities

  • Compensation Strategy & Consulting:

    • Serves as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners and senior leaders on compensation philosophy, pay program design, and market competitiveness.

    • Provides expert consultation on job design, job leveling, classification, and fair pay practices.

    • Partners with leaders to solve complex compensation challenges, balancing business needs with internal equity and external competitiveness.

  • Market Analysis & Benchmarking:

    • Leads annual and ad hoc market pricing using salary surveys and industry data; interprets results to recommend pay levels, structures, and competitive positioning.

    • Analyzes compensation trends and market movement; prepares recommendations for pay structure adjustments and strategic updates.

    • Evaluates new and evolving roles to determine accurate market matches and internal alignment.

  • Pay Program Design & Administration:

    • Supports design, modeling, and administration of salary structures, career frameworks, and incentive plans.

    • Develops and refines compensation tools and models (e.g., merit forecasting tools, pay calculators, job evaluation frameworks).

    • Leads or contributes to enterprise compensation projects such as pay equity analysis, career architecture updates, and standardization of pay practices.

  • Compliance & Governance:

    • Ensures compensation programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including FLSA, pay transparency laws, and wage and hour requirements.

    • Partners with Legal and HR to maintain strong governance and documentation for compensation processes.

    • Participates in audits and risk assessments to identify and address gaps in pay practices.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting:

    • Conducts sophisticated analyses to support recommendations on pay decisions, budget impacts, market positioning, and incentive plan outcomes.

    • Prepares executive-ready reports, dashboards, and presentations highlighting findings and recommendations.

    • Ensures high-quality data integrity within HR and compensation systems.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Works closely with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and operational leaders to align compensation decisions with organizational goals.

    • Educates managers on compensation frameworks, pay practices, and effective decisionmaking.

    • Provides exceptional customer service, offering thoughtful, accurate, and timely compensation guidance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8 years of progressively responsible compensation experience, including market pricing, salary structure development, job evaluation, and compensation program design.

  • Proven experience consulting with HR Business Partners, leaders, and executives to deliver datadriven compensation recommendations and influence decisionmaking.

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Finance, Analytics, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in compensation within the healthcare or hospitality industries is strongly preferred, including support of complex, multi-site organizations.

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation.

  • Advanced proficiency in compensation technology and analytics tools, including Payfactors, advanced Microsoft Excel (modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas), and familiarity with AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
