Summary
Is a currently enrolled student in a graduate degree program in medicine, biological sciences or related, and is working in a research lab. This research is conducted independently under the supervision of the principal investigator on projects focused on transplantation immunology. Research projects will prepare the incumbent to work fully independently on department level and original research in the future. The research conducted and work performed is at least partially in fulfillment of their degree program requirements.

Essential Functions
-Designs experiments and modifies techniques as necessary to meet research and/or experimental needs.

-Collects and records study data, as well as maintains laboratory notebooks.

-Designs, as well as executes research projects, and participates in large animal experiments and laboratory research.

-Synthesizes and interprets information obtained from the experiments, performs data analysis using advanced statistical techniques.

-In collaboration with the PIs, drafts manuscripts and serves as a co-author on publications in journals and presentations at professional conferences and scientific meetings.

-Interprets results, develops new investigative techniques and in collaboration with the PI, determines the most appropriate direction of research.

-Participates and presents in Lab meetings and research seminars.

-Provides functional guidance to technical and animal care personnel involved in projects.

-Works safely within the laboratory environment and in performing work duties.

-Wears personal protective equipment as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be capable of performing and interpreting assay data related to the specific research lab.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Ability to work carefully, accurately and consistently with instruction or protocol.
- Must be able to work safely and properly use protective equipment.
- Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet searches.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory at Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Research Assistant to support research focused on the application and development of diffusion MRI pre-processing and post-processing methods. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary research environment and contribute to cutting-edge imaging research with direct relevance to biomedical and clinical applications.

This position is ideal for a graduate student interested in medical imaging, image analysis, and translational research.

Key Responsibilities

* Apply existing MRI pre-processing and post-processing pipelines to research datasets

* Develop, adapt, and optimize diffusion MRI processing methods for specific research applications

* Perform quantitative analysis of MRI data and assist with data interpretation

* Collaborate with engineers, clinicians, and researchers across disciplines

* Document methods, results, and workflows for reproducibility

* Contribute to abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations as appropriate

Required Qualifications

* Graduate-level training in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Medical Physics, Computer Science with imaging focus)

* Background or coursework in medical imaging, MRI physics, or image processing

* Experience with scientific programming or data analysis (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C/C++)

* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

* Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team

Preferred Qualifications

* Prior hands-on experience with MRI data

* Familiarity with MRI processing tools or libraries (e.g., FSL, FreeSurfer, SPM, ANTs)

* Experience working in a research or academic lab environment

* Interest in translational or clinically oriented researc
