Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Quality Management Systems Manager - Laboratory - Full Time Days - Clinical Labs-Procure,Dist,Adm -.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for managing the laboratory quality initiatives including regulatory and organizational mandates. Complies with quality and patient safety regulations and accreditation requirements (NYS, DOH, TJC, CAP and CMS). Develops and administers the Quality Management Plan. Reviews statistical data to identify quality problems. Analyze the data and recommend changes to processes or quality control programs to eliminate problems. Develop and monitor continuous improvement programs. Coordinates the ongoing proficiency testing program. Works with each of the Quality Systems Specialists in a managerial role to review their interactions with the section heads to ensure the accuracy and integrity of their plan including data capture and reporting. Collects and reports the monthly Quality Improvement Advisory Council (QIAC) metrics. Assesses the effectiveness of the department's quality related policies and procedures and identifies educational opportunities for staff. Responsible for managing and coordination of laboratory and hospital wide quality improvement projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Prepares and participates in all inspections, Internal or External- College of American Pathologists (CAP) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
  • Monitors compliance of College of American Pathologists (CAP) regulations and NYSDOH Standards of Practice.
  • Works with section heads in data collection and reporting. Interfaces with all departments throughout the institution, as well as external parties/agencies on Quality Management data, reports and information systems. Ensures data is completed and reported in a timely manner.
  • Monitors Proficiency Testing compliance and maintains Corrective Action records.
  • Updates and maintains departmental Quality Management Plan.
  • Attends Quality Management meetings, creates meeting minutes and maintains documentation.
  • Identifies educational opportunities and ensures staff competency documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory technology program or in biology, chemistry, or the physical sciences or equivalent required
New York State clinical laboratory technologist license required
Minimum 6 years of experience as Laboratory Technologist required
3 - 5 years of Quality system related experience required
1-2 years of supervisory or management in laboratory required
Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, customer service, organization, and multitasking skills
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Knowledge of Quality Principles

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) preferred

The salary range for the role is $84,956.87 - $143,709.52 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
