Department Summary

The Division of Research and Innovation at the University of North Texas supports the generation and dissemination of knowledge by assisting faculty and students in their research, scholarly work and creative activities. Our mission is to support, facilitate, and empower the growth of sustainable research at UNT. Position Overview

The Sr Administrative Coordinator position provides direct administrative support for the Associate Vice President Research, Research Development & Operations; and staff within the research division units of: Research Development, Materials Research Facility (MRF), Cleanroom Research Facility, and Center for Microelectronics in Extreme Environments (CMEE). This position's administrative support duties include, but are not limited to: managing unit events and project coordination, travel, procurement, personnel hiring, asset and space management. Position requires the use of considerable independent responsibility and initiative to support the assigned units. The position also collaborates with university administrators, faculty, staff and students, so must be able to perform duties at a very high level with often sensitive and confidential administrative work.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

* Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.

* Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.

* Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
* Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.

Job Duties



  • Provides administrative support, including drafting and managing correspondence and communications, scheduling appointments and managing the calendar with upcoming deadlines and agenda items that require action. Coordinating travel arrangements, compiling various reports, maintenance of records and other documentation, project management, and coordinating and managing division special events.
  • Provides administrative support to the unit areas of Research Development, Materials Research Facility (MRF), Cleanroom Research Facility, and Center for Microelectronics in Extreme Environments (CMEE) to coordinate events and special projects, process travel requests and expense reports, process procurement requests, and maintain asset inventory and space management reporting.
  • Serves as a liaison and a point of contact, including providing support to departments reporting to the Associate VP Research & Innovation and being a resource in the resolution of complex, highly sensitive, and confidential administrative matters. Collaborates with Associate VPRI to coordinate HR paperwork and processes for all staff and student hiring, on-boarding and off-boarding, and other HR related tasks for assigned unit areas.
  • Identifies and recommends improvements for administrative procedures and/or makes evaluative judgments in implementing changes as appropriate to administrative procedures. Remains current with all UNT administrative support processes and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
