Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed Vigilance Patrol in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will support access control, assist staff and residents with professional communication, and document observations and responses. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to residents, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior and exterior areas, including common areas, entrances, stairwells, and perimeter checks, helping to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, using verbal de-escalation techniques and coordinating with site management and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Control access by monitoring entry points, checking identification as required, managing visitor sign-in processes, and directing individuals to appropriate areas based on site procedures.
  • Document observations, incidents, and patrol activities in written and/or electronic logs, and communicate pertinent information during shift turnover to support continuity of operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Client requires proof of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
