Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Engineer to backfill an existing role supporting gun and system production engineering efforts. This position will involve overseeing daily production activities and providing technical expertise across multiple weapon system programs. The candidate will allocate their time between supporting spares programs (20mm, 25mm, and 30mm) and providing direct engineering support to the active Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) production program (25mm).

The work in this role will primarily involve mechanical engineering, with exposure to materials science, manufacturing processes, and thermodynamics principles.

This position will require domestic and international travel.

Essential Functions

  • Applies standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies.
  • Analyzes, develops and evaluates systems.
  • Improves and maintains current systems or creates brand new projects.
  • Designs and drafts blueprints, visits systems in the field and manages projects.
  • Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.



Additional Responsibilities

Analyze system requirements, ensure production compliance, and resolve mechanical, thermal, or material issues. Provide real-time support for production/tests, validate requirements, and oversee manufacturing processes. Review non-conforming parts, manage the Technical Data Package, and collaborate with stakeholders to meet quality, cost, and schedule goals.


Required Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience
  • Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Critical thinking skills. Problem solving skills. Mathematic skills. Computer skills. Technical expertise.
  • Key Qualifications:
    • Proficiency in manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, forging, assembly, and testing for precision parts.

    • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including rotary systems, hydraulic mechanisms, gear trains, and high-speed mechanical subassemblies.

    • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and the ability to interpret and apply complex engineering drawings.



Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.


Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.


Pay Range (USD)

$61,600.00 - $114,400.00


Pay Transparency Statement

The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the range during the hiring process.


Additional Compensation

Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company's Gain Sharing Program.
