This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

This temporary position of Engineering Intern is expected to last from June to August 2026 and pay is $25.00 per hour.

The successful candidate must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Albuquerque area for the duration of the internship. This internship is not eligible for relocation pay.

About This Opportunity
Calling all future Engineers! Do you want to gain practical experience and learn more about your field? Don't miss this exciting opportunity to join New Mexico Gas Company this summer as an Engineering Intern! During this internship, you will support our engineers by applying engineering knowledge in designing, developing, and coordinating projects. The Engineering Intern is a temporary position lasting no more than 12 weeks or 480 hours.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gathers, review, summarize and maintain records for department or project use; records may include Department of Transportation (DOT) Compliance, integrity management, as-builts.
  • Supports the reconciliation and closing of work order folders.
  • Applies economic analysis, mathematical, electrical, civil, and mechanical knowledge and experience to the design, preparation, and coordination of projects ranging in complexity.
  • Reviews and interprets engineering drawings and design using ESRI geographic information systems (GIS) tools, drafting methods, and standards.
  • Supports the application of standard engineering principles, practices, and regulations, including, but not limited to, transmission, distribution, system planning, asset utilization, and regulations.
  • Compiles information, analyzes data, and generates reports for hydraulic modeling, and/or risk modeling requiring effective use of ESRI GIS applications.
  • Performs miscellaneous administrative duties in the engineering area.


Successful Candidate Must Have:



  • Current full-time enrollment in a petroleum, chemical, mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering program at a college or university. Must provide the Company with unofficial transcripts from the college or university at the time of hire.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Preferences:

    • Prior research experience or graduate assistantship in an engineering discipline
    • Previous engineering or engineeringrelated internship
    • Engineering or engineeringrelated work experience
    • Attending an ABETaccredited school
