Job Description

Elwyn seeks a Adapt. Eqip. Repair Tech. to maintain wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment in good repair; to assist with wheelchair prescriptions and other adaptive equipment selection.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Repairs adaptive equipment upon request of therapists or unit supervisors;
  • Records all requests for repairs and disposition of same in log book;
  • Makes repairs with minimal disruption of function to the clients;
  • Schedules repairs with the units in advance whenever possible;
  • Provides loaner equipment for clients during repairs or upon request of the unit supervisor when indicated;
  • Inventories and periodically monitors all wheelchairs and gait devices used by clients;
  • Maintains tools and work room in a clean and orderly fashion; maintains work place safety;
  • Uses appropriate protective equipment when working;
  • Provides periodic in services for unit staff on use, care, and cleaning of wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment;
  • Assists therapists with treatment setups, exercises, aquatic programs, gait training, and client monitoring as needed; assists clients with dressing and toileting as needed;
  • Assists therapists in client evaluation for wheelchairs, gait devices, and other adaptive equipment;
  • Orders necessary parts for equipment repairs; orders new equipment based on team evaluation; prepares purchase requests for director's signature;
  • Assumes receptionist, scheduling, and clerical duties for Physical Rehabilitation Operations Manager in her absence and upon request of the director.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • advanced shop skills.
  • Experience with developmentally disabled population
  • demonstrated mechanical ability; knowledge of biomedical equipment desirable.
