THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is seeking a Fishing and Boating Facilities Maintainer to work within the Southeast Region. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Fishing and Boating Facilities Maintainer for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, you will provide property maintenance of public fishing and boating facilities owned or controlled by the PA Fish and Boat Commission in Maintenance Area 4, a multi-county region in southeastern Pennsylvania. You will perform specialized skilled work in the maintenance and repair of fishing and boating facilities. Duties will include operating and servicing light and heavy trucks along with other power equipment used to maintain facilities. Having knowledge of various aspects of carpentry, plumbing and electrical work will be key to this position. This position is directly related to public safety through the ongoing maintenance of public dams and access areas and will assist in the maintenance of 7-High Hazard Dams and 40+ public properties located within the 16-County Southeast Region.

Your broad range of tasks will include:

  • Building, installing and maintaining docks and mooring facilities
  • Erecting signs and bulletin boards
  • Painting buildings, offices, workshops and equipment
  • Making building repairs and renovations
  • Performing repairs, preventive maintenance work on equipment and tools, cleaning and servicing equipment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience operating commercial or industrial-use wheeled or tracked motor vehicles used in groundskeeping, outdoor construction work, agriculture, mining, or forestry work; or
  • Two years of semi-skilled work experience in commercial building or plant maintenance and repair work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain within the probationary period a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL).

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • You must be able to be called in to work for emergency situations.
  • You must be willing to work some weekends.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
