Position Summary:
The Field Technician provides hands-on support for field-based environmental and infrastructure projects by conducting site inspections, deploying and maintaining field equipment, and collecting accurate on-site data. The position requires regular travel to multiple locations (few miles within NJ), independent outdoor work under varying conditions, and close coordination with engineers, project staff, and community stakeholders to support successful project implementation.

Essential Functions:
-Duties include installing and removing surveying equipment from the field.
-Maintain the equipment to ensure that they function correctly.
-Inspect and locate the water infrastructure in various communities.
-Use equipment to remove material from various sites.
-Communicate effectively with personnel from the communities and the oversight agencies.
-Communicate effectively with personnel in the Center for Natural Resources.
-Drive to various sites to conduct inspections.
-Ensure compliance with safety regulations, site access requirements, and environmental protection guidelines.
-Transport equipment and materials safely to and from field sites.
-Assist with project setup, demobilization, and inventory tracking of field equipment and supplies.
-Support emergency or time-sensitive field inspections as required by project needs or weather events.
-Provide progress reports for Dr. Boufadel.
-Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the Center Director.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-A high school degree or equivalent.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Multiple years of experience working on outdoor sites. With construction materials and/or with survey equipment.
-A record of managing project implementation based on designs provided by engineers, architects, or planners.
-OSHA 30 training is an asset.
-Must have driver's license.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated annual salary range for this position is $57,371.00- $67,119.50 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
