Position Highlights

The position will support multiple research studies, currently focused on firefighter health and safety, will involve managing the databases of survey and biological data, REDcap design and maintenance, and survey development. The position will work closely with internal and external collaborators to ensure data requests are met and additional studies built into the existing framework is thoughtfully integrated.

Duties & Responsibilities

Data Wrangling and Warehousing:

  • Collect and manage external collaborator datasets, unifying with internal datasets.
  • Use system reports and analyses to identify and remedy potentially problematic data, make corrections, and determine root cause for data problems from input errors or inadequate field edits often in collaboration with clinical staff.
  • Manage data requests, data pulls, and data accuracy for distribution to external and internal collaborators
  • Warehouse and harmonize data across complex data sets (large scale omics, medical records, survey, biologics)

Study development and survey design:

  • Responsible for managing documentation and reporting to ensure compliance with internal SOPs, GCP guidelines, sponsor guidelines and current applicable regulatory regulations.
  • Assists in the development of case report forms (CRFs) and data management plans (DMPs).
  • Use good survey design principles in designing/writing questions for surveys, in collaboration with the Data Coordinating Center PIs

Data management and security:

  • Managing user accounts including permissions.
  • Manages testing and quality assurance processes.
  • Participate in audit preparedness activities.
  • Employ best practices for data integrity, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Day to day use of REDCap and accompanying systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency in compliance with study protocols.

Collaboration:

  • Interface with regulatory team to ensure GCP compliance and proper data documentation.
  • Participate and attend data center administrator user group activities and meetings.
  • Participate in cross-functional study team meetings and contribute to project timelines.
  • Collaborate with external faculty and research staff on data collection and analysis methods.

Training:

  • User training sessions for onboarding graduate students/staff as they relate to using REDCap for pulling data and ensuring data quality

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of GCP, ICH, and UA regulatory guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, REDCap, and other data management tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining accurate, retrievable records.
  • Takes initiative with good problem solving skills to anticipate and solve problems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to determine workload priorities in an appropriate way to accomplish tasks and goals, meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience may be required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with building out user dashboards to track study participation and module development.
  • Coding experience in R, relevant for building APIs and harmonizing data cleaning from REDCap.
  • Experience with REDCap eConsent framework
