DESCRIPTION

This Infusion RN position requires excellent written/verbal communication and critical thinking skills in the delivery of oncology and non-oncology infusion therapy and related services (clinical trials, labs, dressing changes, injections and so forth). The Infusion RN gives chemotherapy, biotherapy, clinical trials infusion and other infusion-related services as well as blood work, dressing change, injections in a fast-paced outpatient infusion center setting. This position will receive training in clinical trials.

Using the nursing process, the Infusion RN ensures patient safety, symptom management and patient/family education in a fast-paced outpatient infusion center. The Infusion RN must proactively anticipate and respond to urgent medical emergencies. Commitment to teamwork and engagement are also vital to this role to sustain our commitment to a healthy work environment.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • Current California RN license.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification with recent experience (within the last 6 months).

  • Minimum one (1) year of recent (within the last 6 months) oncology infusion center or acute care oncology experience.

  • Experience actively administering a wide variety of chemotherapy regimens and corresponding knowledge of oncology diagnoses and treatments.

  • Demonstrates strong independent judgment and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions, solve problems efficiently, and prioritize multiple layers of information and responsibilities to quickly assess moderately complex situations and develop effective solutions.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment while utilizing strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness while communicating and collaborating effectively with staff at all levels, physicians, patients, and external partners.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.

  • Recent infusion center experience.

  • Clinical Trials Infusion experience.

  • OCN certification.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work at least 3 weekend days a month.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 - $193,892 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 - $92.86

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
