Overview

The Monetization and Business Planning (M+BP) organization is responsible for the monetization strategy, pricing, and packaging for the multi-billion-dollar Microsoft Cloud products portfolio. To deliver on this broad charter, we've built a center of excellence with an industry-leading reputation for strategic thought leadership.

This role is within the Productivity & Intelligence (PI) Business Planning team which is responsible for the monetization of the Microsoft 365 family of products that includes productivity applications such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and many more. As the Business Planning Lead for Promotions & Strategic Partnerships, the right candidate will have the serve as a trusted strategic advisor to key business leaders across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem in designing promotional offer strategies that accelerate the growth of our core products. Additionally, the candidate will have a key role in cultivating relationships with internal & external stakeholders in the creation and evaluation of key strategic partnerships across the technology sector.

This role requires a strategic thinker with business leadership & acumen, cross-group collaboration, and outstanding written and oral communication skills. This person in this role thinks strategically, moves with urgency and has a track record of driving growth through business model innovation. Responsibilities
  • Propose pricing changes and discounting guidance to improve the profitability of offers and address varying market needs.
  • Lead cross-functional teams across Engineering, Product Marketing, Finance, Sales, and others, to drive monetization strategy, pricing decisions, and packaging constructs for products for the targeted audience.
  • Partner with Research and Insights team to conduct market research and understand competitive dynamics, customer segmentation, and customer willingness to pay.
  • Identify and build partnerships with key strategic stakeholders that help accelerate Microsoft Office product growth and customer value creation.
  • Evaluate, track and analyze partnership proposals and performance metrics while identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize partnership outcomes.
  • Leverage data and insights to forecast pricing and discounting impacts, test new monetization models, and refine strategies for maximum effectiveness.
  • Influence senior leadership with data-driven recommendations that drive business impact.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field
    • OR 6+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing go-to-market strategies for growth and success.
  • Experience defining and evaluating partner specific margins.
  • Consistently delivering operational excellence with an ability to link strategy to execution.
  • Excellent communicator who can adapt your style and message across various stakeholders and levels, including marketing and engineering executives, customers, and partners.
  • Excellent problem-solver who can see the big picture and possess deep analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to make data-driven decisions.
  • Deep understanding of partnerships and how partner impact is tracked and reported across deals.


Business Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
