Why This Role Is Critical

We are seeking an experienced Risk Manager to support nuclear project bids and execution, with a strong focus on Instrumentation & Control (I&C) projects. The role is critical to ensuring risks are proactively identified, structured, quantified, and managed across the full project lifecycle, from bid phase through execution and close-out. This position sits at the intersection of technical understanding, project management, and corporate governance, and plays a key role in strengthening delivery predictability, margin protection, and decision-making across the project portfolio.

What You'll Do Day-To-Day

Bid Phase Risk Management

Lead the creation and consolidation of risk registers for bid proposals, including technical, licensing, schedule, cost, commercial, and execution risks.
  • Facilitate structured risk identification workshops with Engineering, Project Management,
  • Licensing, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams.
  • Support risk quantification, mitigation strategies, and contingency development aligned with bid assumptions.
  • Ensure risks are clearly translated into pricing, schedule, and contractual positions.
  • Contribute to bid reviews, management reviews, and gate decision processes.

Project Execution Risk Management

  • Own and maintain project risk registers throughout execution, ensuring risks are actively managed and updated.
  • Lead or support periodic risk reviews, including trend analysis, escalation, and closure of risks.
Work closely with Project Managers to ensure risks are reflected in forecasting, EAC, and recovery plans.
  • Support identification and management of emerging risks, including FOAK, licensing, supplier, and interface risks.

Schedule and Quantitative Risk Integration

  • Work closely with Schedulers to integrate risks into the project schedule.
  • Support or perform schedule risk analysis, including critical path sensitivity and risk-driven schedule impacts.
  • Ensure alignment between risk registers and schedule logic, milestones, and recovery strategies.

Portfolio and Governance

  • Support portfolio-level risk visibility, including cross-project risk themes and systemic risks.
  • Participate in portfolio risk reviews, steering committees, and management briefings.
  • Coach Project Managers and teams on risk management best practices.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and return-on-experience programs.

Corporate Alignment and Process

  • Ensure project and bid risk management activities are aligned with corporate risk management processes and governance.
  • Act as an interface with corporate risk, finance, and PMO teams.
  • Support audits, internal reviews, and lessons-learned initiatives related to risk management.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a minimum of 10 years of related experience is required. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Expert knowledge of all aspects of project management and project control, including costing, scheduling (i.e., Primavera scheduling system), billing, contract analysis and administration for engineering design/construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding and developing multi-functional staff resources.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with all levels of staff and management, vendors and customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to manage multiple tasks and projects through subordinates.
  • Strong analytical ability and problem identification/problem resolution skills.

Total Rewards Package

  • Salary: $115,000-$156,000 and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
  • Health & Wellness: Multiple medical plan options, dental & vision coverage, life insurance, long- and short-term disability, and optional supplemental plans (critical illness, accident, hospital indemnity, dependent life).
  • Retirement: 401(k) with employer match.
  • Paid Time Off: Up to 3 weeks of vacation, 8 sick days, and 13 paid holidays annually.
  • Extra Perks: Lifestyle spending account, employer paid mental health support, education reimbursement, professional development opportunities, adoption assistance, parental leave, and employee assistance programs.
