In the role of Water Resources Engineering Intern, we'll count on you to:
  • Gain real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
  • Project engineering and task management, conduct difficult to complex hydraulic and hydrologic modeling
  • Perform a range of tasks related to riverine engineering
  • Conduct stormwater collection systems modeling and design
  • Collect, assimilate and present data in reports, memos and public forums
  • Support production of design calculations and technical reports
  • Support preparation of engineering plans and specifications for design of detention facilities, storm drains, scour countermeasure design, flood control facilities and other hydraulic structures
  • Assist in water resources permitting efforts.
  • Perform other duties as needed

The ideal candidate will commit to working approximately 20 hours per week on-site, alongside and receiving mentorship from a licensed engineer. This position does not offer remote work.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience, education, and interest in Water Resources/Hydrology and Hydraulics
  • Current BS/MS student in Civil, Environmental or other applicable Engineering Program with 1-2 years remaining towards completion.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite and ARC GIS.
  • Experience or interest in AutoCAD Civil3D, and any of the following modeling software packages: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, SRH-2D
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task
  • An attitude and commitment to quality, teaming, innovative problem solving, communication, relationship management, and the culture that is integral to our employee ownership model
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position is $22 - $26/hr and depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
