Job Family Description

Site Security personnel safeguard individuals, property, information, and assets against potential threats and unwanted access. They monitor security systems and respond promptly to security incidents. They assess security and emergency risks and implement training and preventative measures. They ensure compliance with security procedures and requirements.

Discipline Description

Classification Security personnel provide technical expertise for security classification and subsequent protection of classified documents, computer systems, and other nuclear related items of importance to national security, originated or controlled by contract and subcontract organizations prior to release of such items for widespread distribution and public release. They provide technical support, interpretive guidance, and oversight to field organizations to ensure proper use of security classification guidance. They develop technical guidance for classified information and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information for new and revised programs. They develop technical training, briefings, local classification bulletins in support of national security operations.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in process control engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, computer science with experience in computer application support, coding, and processing control systems; or a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, and experience in nuclear materials processing; or a bachelor's degree in metallurgical or mechanical engineering and experience in nuclear materials processing; or equivalent experience with nuclear processing facilities, nuclear weapons facilities or security disciplines at a Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) facility, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
