Genesis10 is currently seeking a Data Ops Engineer - Hybrid position with a Global Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This role is responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting data workflows across hybrid environments. The Data Ops Engineer will manage job schedules, resolve failures, and optimize performance for ingestion and transformation processes. This position involves contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automating repetitive tasks, documenting operational run books, and collaborating with release management and offshore teams to ensure platform stability. This role requires 3 days onsite per week. Responsibilities: Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows across hybrid environments Manage job schedules, resolve failures, and optimize performance for ingestion and transformation processes Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automate repetitive tasks Document operational run books Collaborate with release management and offshore teams to ensure platform stability Requirements: Strong hands-on experience with HDFS, Spark, Hive/Impala, and Python data processing scripts Proficiency in debugging job failures, data ingestion issues, and performance bottlenecks Experience with schedulers/orchestrators (e.g., Airflow/Oozie/ADF) and artifact/version control (Git) Familiarity with build/release pipelines (Azure DevOps/Jenkins) and environment promotion practices Experience with incident management including triage, RCA, and remediation; willingness for on-call rotation Experience with monitoring and alerting (Cloudera Manager, logs, metrics) with a focus on SLA/MTTR Proficiency in shell scripting for automation of operational tasks and health checks Clear communication skills for concise status updates and collaboration across teams Strong analytical thinking and documentation discipline Desired skills: Basic knowledge of Azure/Databricks jobs, clusters, and storage integrations Experience with data quality frameworks and validation rules Knowledge of delta lakes, checkpoints, and resilient data patterns on Databricks Exposure to security/compliance controls (RBAC, secrets, audit) Familiarity with SRE practices (error budgets, run book automation) Pay range: $58.26 - $66.26 per hour Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.
