Location: Washington, DC

The Manager of US Vaccine Policy role is a key member of the US Public Policy team and will report to the Director of US Vaccine Policy and is part of the larger Government Affairs, Public Policy, and Patient Advocacy (GAPPA) team. This role will work as a thought partner on federal and state vaccine policy issues and will work in a matrixed environment with key internal stakeholders from the Vaccines Business Unit (VBU), Medical Affairs, Market Access, Vaccine Communications, and other internal teams to shape the health policy environment and advance GSK's vaccine policy agenda.

The areas of remit within the purview of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor and track federal and state policies relevant to the GSK's vaccine portfolio and conduct in-depth research and analysis on federal and state legislation and regulations to extract key business insights
  • Serve as a conduit and subject matter expert within GAPPA to the State Government Affairs team and the State Policy team as key internal stakeholders
  • Develop informative research briefs and slide decks, advocacy materials, and other relevant content to effectively communicate insights and policy positions
  • Support and collaborate with colleagues across various internal cross functional teams to assess the support needed by GAPPA to help drive business needs and performance
  • Work cross functionally to support vaccine brand and commercial teams, and provide policy insight for operational planning and business strategy development
  • Support critical external stakeholder relationships in external policy forums inclusive of trade associations and their workgroups and relevant consultants and vendors and represent GSK thought leadership on vaccine priorities
  • Serve as a conduit to policy consultants and vendors and maintain a network of external consultants to monitor and assess evolving program and policy changes as relevant to the business.
  • Support the Director of US Vaccine Policy to maintain alignment on priorities and strategy with GAPPA leadership and VBU leadership

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 3 years of direct experience in policy analysis, consulting, or similar roles including pharmaceutical industry experience or work within federal and state government agencies.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and competing projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to concisely synthesize and present complex policy information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Health Policy, Public Health, or Political Science
  • Advanced degree (e.g. MPH, MPP)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior vaccine and pharmaceutical experience or working within government agencies (e.g. HHS at large, CDC, CMS)
  • An understanding of current healthcare and biopharmaceutical industry issues especially pertaining to vaccines and the external environment
  • Ability to manage time and work priorities without oversight
  • Experience in exercising sound, independent judgment
  • Analytical and independent problem-solving skills
  • Experience as a project manager, collaborator, and individual contributor
  • Experience presenting to, communicating with, and influencing senior leadership

The US annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $134,250 to $223,750. The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
