General Duties:

The following provides general position expectations, including but not limited to:

  • Accountable for the reliable operation of all assigned wastewater facilities.
  • Ensure that facilities operate in compliance with regulatory permits.
  • Use the Company's compliance tracking systems to pro-actively assure regulatory requirements compliance.
  • Establish, assign, track and develop training programs (operational and safety).
  • Identify and implement operational efficiency projects that reduce expense and improve use of assigned resources
  • Manage 24/7/365 responses to facility operation interruptions.
  • Manage the Regulatory Authority Audits and inspections.
  • Coordinate vendors for work at facilities
  • Ensure safe working conditions at facilities, and enforce Company's Safety Program
  • Know and manage the Collective Bargaining Unit terms for represented employees
  • Develop and deliver assigned Capital Projects.
  • Monitor maintenance, repair, and capital improvement budgets to evaluate work progress, process, and quality; resolve issues; determine additional needs; and assure continuous support and follow-up.
  • Development and adherence to the operating budget.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions for supplies, equipment and other purchases per the Company's Procure to Pay Policy.
  • Establish and maintain an adequate inventory of key and critical supplies and equipment.
  • Oversee and manage operations, maintenance, and asset records via Company's asset management software.
  • Coordinate and complete operational records.
  • Oversee process control and regulatory sampling and testing programs.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of regulatory reports.
  • Develop / update Standard Operating Procedure manuals and operating Plans
  • Support wastewater the permit renewal process.
  • Work collaboratively with other Company Departments.
  • Assist Customer Service and Billing/Collections Departments to resolve customer issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Credential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree is required in chemistry, biology, environmental science, engineering, or field related to the knowledge required for this position.
  • Five to ten (5-10) years of experience in Water and/or Wastewater operations
  • 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Hold a current Pennsylvania Certification for Wastewater Operator Class B,E-1,3,4. If not in possession of the license, consideration will be given to candidates who can obtain one in a time frame determined acceptable by Aqua.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient at using Window based applications, including word processing, e-mail and spreadsheet applications.

Budget:

Annual Operating budget ranges of about $26M.

Annual Capital Budget: Ranges of about $2M

Reports to:

Area Director

Work Hours:

  • Standard work hours, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Respond to / attend periodic after-hour emergencies and/or meetings.
  • On call and available 24/7 to handle any problems that may arise. Delegation of these duties for paid time off.
