Position Summary: The Document Control Specialist II is responsible for developing, maintaining, and distributing electronic and hard-copied documents, departmental files, and resource materials necessary to define product configuration and control manufacturing processes that insure conformance to customer requirements with assistance from subject matter experts. This role will collaborate with internal Quality team members from all SIG locations, Engineering, Machine Shop, Assembly, and Packing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Develop, collect, and maintain latest revision levels of documented information to control product realization processes.
  • Responsible for uploading electronic distribution, verifying access and retrieval, assuring availability at the point of use, and assuring relevant personnel are notified.
  • In collaboration with manufacturing and quality leads, lead timely distribution of latest revision level documentation to all appropriate users.
  • Lead efforts to keep track of current documentation and ensure that obsolete documentation is removed from work areas. Collaborate closely with those assigned to document control duties in specific departments, as applicable.
  • Perform frequent production floor, packing, and machining audits of facilities, and lead correction of issues found.
  • Facilitate communication between relevant groups in machine shops, assembly, packing, and testing about quality related to documentation, including driving corrective action activity on issues needing improvement.
  • Lead control of documented information activities in accordance with ISO 9001 standard and participate on ISO 9001 internal audit team.
  • Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent; an Associate Degree in Business preferred, and a minimum of 2 years as Level I, or related experience required.
  • Ability to use PC systems, copiers and programs including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and skills in MRP systems (Oracle) and PLM systems (Agile).
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to next level manager and fellow employees, including between departments.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Familiar with drawing and print reading, basic Quality concepts, and mechanical design document interpretation.
  • Should have fundamental understanding and aptitude related to the types of documentation to be authored and edited such as mechanical, electrical or optical.
  • Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.


Working Conditions:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
