J ob Title : Coiler Operator
Location: Beaver Dam , WI
Shift: 1 st Shift, 6:00AM - 2:30PM and 2 nd Shift, 3:00PM - 11:30PM
Pay Range: $22.00 - $27.00 / hour
BASIC FUNCTION Sets up and operates coiling machines in a manufacturing environment. Responsible for producing coiled components to precise specifications while maintaining consistent quality and production output.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Sets up coiling machines for production runs, including adjusting tooling, feed rates, and machine parameters to meet job specifications.
  • Loads wire or material into the coiling machine and monitors the coiling process to ensure parts are produced to specification.
  • Inspects finished coiled components for dimensional accuracy, including diameter, pitch, length, and end condition.
  • Uses precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part dimensions.
  • Reads and interprets work orders, blueprints, and job specifications to ensure parts meet required dimensions and quality standards.
  • Monitors production output for consistency and makes adjustments throughout the run to maintain quality.
  • Performs tooling changes and machine adjustments as needed between production runs.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots basic machine malfunctions; escalates mechanical issues to maintenance as needed.
  • Performs routine machine maintenance including lubrication, cleaning, and general upkeep.
  • Follows all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintains accurate production records including quantity, scrap, and inspection results.
  • Supports and mentors less experienced operators in tooling selection and proper equipment operation.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized in compliance with 5S or housekeeping standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to six months of related experience and/or training preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or machining environment preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, safety rules, plant policies, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient in basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals across all units of measure.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of an 8-10 hour shift.
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and manipulate parts and equipment controls.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms; occasional bending, stooping, and crouching.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish color and detect surface irregularities.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, dust, metal particles, coolants, and lubricants.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
