  • General program information and/or position overview. The EW Division of Leidos is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our cross-functional engineering team using innovative technology to develop truly novel communications systems solutions for the US Navy. This is a great opportunity for a mechanical engineer with a background in printed circuit board layout design for antenna and transceiver systems. You will be part of a high powered, collegial, and ethical team, performing vital work that has a major impact within the US Navy.
  • Primary Responsibilities.
  • Set up and manage Altium Designer libraries. Ensure component pad geometries match OEM recommendations.
  • Generate training plan and procedures for printed circuit board, schematic, and part list development in Altium Designer.
  • Collaborate with printed wiring board vendors and design engineers to determine board stack-up and copper balancing for circuit card designs.
  • Perform printed wiring board design layout. Produce a technical data package (i.e. Gerbers, circuit card assembly drawings, and parts lists, etc.) for distribution to vendors for fabrication.
  • Mentor engineering staff with respect to printed circuit board design and layout techniques.
  • Basic Qualifications.
  • US Citizenship required. Must have an active Secret security clearance, or ability to obtain.
  • BA/BS in Engineering or equivalent experience and 12-15 years of printed circuit board design and layout.
  • Strong planning skills including defining requirements, time estimating, communicating progress to stakeholders at each phase of project, documentation, and testing
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer, AutoCAD, and CAM350.
  • Strong experience in the layout of military-grade communications system printed wiring board designs (i.e., antennas (phased-arry, planar, etc.), transceivers, and sensors.
