At the Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. A day in the life of an Operations Specialist includes, but is not limited to:
- Provide technical expertise to develop, formalize and execute activities for the Transuranic (TRU) Program at the Hanford site.
- Provide support to the WP&O in the characterization, data reconciliation, and shipping of radioactive waste in accordance with the CPCCo operating policies, procedures, and principles.
- Research historical facility processes, Acceptable Knowledge (AK) information, review waste designations, nondestructive assay/exam documentation, and perform data reconciliations.
- Perform waste profile and shipment reviews for the TRU Program to ensure compliance with all waste acceptance requirements.
- Provide technical support implementing the WIPP WAC including chemical compatibility and oxidizer evaluations on TRU waste streams. Review evaluations that are done for incoming waste.
- With limited guidance, interface with outside agencies to communicate necessary information and requirements when applicable.


Basic Qualifications


Intermediate Grade 14: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 2 or more years of relevant experience
Intermediate Grade 15: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 3 or more years of relevant experience

The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.


Desired Qualifications


- Chemical Engineering or other scientific degree.
- Experience with Waste Programs. Familiarity with radiochemistry and radiochemical separations.
- Experience with the treatment, characterization and disposal of dangerous and radioactive solid waste. Familiarity with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) implementing regulations.
- Searching/validating databases for historical information.
- Background in research and data analysis.
- Experience in communicating technical/scientific information verbally and in writing.


Compensation & Benefits


In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.

Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):

Intermediate Grade 14: $81,500 - $103,750
Intermediate Grade 15: $81,500 - $114,100

In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
