| Primary Purpose of Department |
The Planning and Space Management unit manages the planning of informal and capital projects, long-term physical space planning, space allocations, and signage for the university community. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
This Facility Planner supports the operation of the Planning, Design, and Construction team, as well as other Facilities Management staff. Responsibilities include administrative and technical work in planning projects, designing plans and specifications for projects, including project scope, schedule, and budget. |
| Summary of Position Responsibilities |
- Work includes the ability to translate conceptual ideas to specific plans and programming and may entail directing the work of vendors, designers, and/or contractors. The incumbent will work with departments and department heads to create project plans to align with UNC Charlotte's campus master plan, meet the needs of proposed new projects, develop projected cost estimates based on construction/cost trends, conduct planning meetings, and manage competing interests between departments involved in space planning and new construction and renovation planning.
- Liaison duties with outside designers and reviewing agencies, facilities services personnel, and county and local government officials. In addition, the incumbent will have a strong emphasis on communication skills to work collaboratively with university departments, customers, and other university and external stakeholders.
- Work as a contributing teammate in the Planning, Design, and Construction department to collaborate and provide expertise on a wide variety of departmental projects and plans.

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment and two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |

Master's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment and five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |

Certified Planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners or related certifications. |
