A Brief Overview

The Payroll Analyst manages day-to-day payroll functions, including processing, review, and tax reporting of payroll. This role ensures that employees are compensated accurately and on time. This role performs complex accounting functions related to verifying and reconciling payroll records, including but not limited to wages, taxes, and other deductions. This position supports payroll-related accounts and reconciles accounts within accounting systems. This position reviews quarterly and year-end payroll tax reporting and assists with internal and external payroll audits and reporting. This position requires the understanding of garnishments and effective communication with requesting entity.

What you will do



  • Executes full-cycle payroll processing for diverse companies bi-weekly, weekly, and monthly, and reviews any changes for accuracy. Processing includes time import, check processing, bank file processing, tax processing, and general ledger reporting.
  • Runs, reviews, reconciles, and balances payroll and tax data reports for periodic, quarterly, and annual reconciliation and or analysis. This includes federal, state, and local reconciliations.
  • Administers, reviews, and ensures compliance of wage garnishment orders, including verification of wages.
  • Responds to employee payroll inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Runs test calculations/reconciliations on various scenarios and shares with team members.
  • Provides business unit leaders, management, and/or accounting with information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, and by designing and preparing reports.
  • Assists with audits of payroll areas and prepares documentation for internal or external auditors.
  • Researches and analyzes legislative changes; verifies and runs complex payroll tax calculations, and performs any payroll-related testing, as required.
  • Responsible for garnishments. Including responding to requests, communication with the entity, communication with the employee, and setting up garnishment in the system.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality regarding all information and data.
  • May propose procedures to streamline payroll processes


Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or GED in Human Resources Management, Accounting, or Business Required
  • Associate's Degree Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, or related discipline Preferred
  • Master's Degree MBA, or related discipline Preferred
  • 4-6 years experience processing multi-state payroll in a corporate environment. Preferred Required
  • 7-9 years experience in payroll accounting. Preferred Preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, standards, methods, and practices related to payroll, including but not limited to wage labor and tax laws.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Ability to maintain complex payroll records, summaries, and reports.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in payroll processing from timekeeping to producing checks.
