Primary Purpose

The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining accurate and up to date financial records for our clinical research business and affiliate entities. Working closely with the Assistant Global Corporate Controller and the accounting team, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for handling a higher volume of financial transactions and performing daily, monthly, and period end accounting tasks using both DelTek Costpoint and Microsoft Great Plains ERP systems.


Responsibilities

  • Records and reconciles daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Global Corporate Controller and the accounting team to facilitate timely and accurate month-end and period-end closing processes. Prepares and posts journal entries and accruals as necessary.
  • Prepares and manages monthly balance sheet reconciliations for prepaids, fixed assets, debt balances and intercompany accounts.
  • Maintains and updates the general ledger for the clinical research business and other divisions, ensuring proper classification and coding of the transactions.
  • Reviews subledger transactions and balances, so as to ensure proper month-end close requirements and tie out of agings, working with the accounts payable and receivable teams to ensure timely period-end tasks completion.
  • Performs bank reconciliations for multiple accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of cash transactions, as well as maintaining credit card reconciliations and ensuring proper supporting documentation is provided.
  • Assists in generating financial reports and statements as required for internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the overall financial analysis.
  • Effectively utilizes both DelTek Costpoint and Microsoft Great Plains ERP systems for accounting activities, maintaining data integrity, and generating reports.
  • Ensures compliance with company accounting policies and regulatory requirements. Assists in preparing documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting-related queries and provide support for financial data and reporting.
  • Identifies opportunities for process enhancements to streamline accounting procedures and increase efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in accounting, with proficiency in handling general ledger accounting transaction volumes.
  • 1-3 years of experience using both Deltek Costpoint and Microsoft Great Plains ERP systems.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in a Federal Government Contracting environment.
