Position Purpose
The Financial Reporting Analyst assists with the preparation of annual nancial statements, regulatory reporting, tax lings and nancial surveys for Dartmouth and its related entities. Assists with the variance analysis and future period projections of divisional operating revenue and expenditures. Partners with campus-wide divisional scal ocers and other nancial managers to provide on-going support around complex accounting matters and reporting questions.
Researches, analyzes and implements new accounting standards or regulatory requirements. Provides assistance in analysis and testing of changes to various Oracle nancial modules, tools and reports.

Skills & Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting and taxes for not-for-prots, preferably higher education.
  • Excellent analytical/critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to plan work, set priorities and manage multiple priorities, and changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Knowledge of internal controls.
  • Highly procient with Excel, Word, Powerpoint and similar applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative, sound judgment and ability to work independently.


Experience

  • Four+ years of relevant experience in a related eld, with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Experience working on nancial statement preparation.
  • Experience reviewing peer deliverables.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Financial Management required
Preferred Qualifications


  • CPA preferred
  • Supervisor experience desired

  • MBA preferred
  • Oracle experience preferred

Key Accountabilities


Description
Accounting, Reporting, and Financial analysis

  • Performs in-depth analysis of accounts at year-end to determine accuracy of financial information.
  • Prepares workbooks, reconciliations and other similar nancial analysis supporting activities throughout the year, including year-end nancial statement audits, other audits and tax lings. Responds to related auditor inquiries.
  • Prepares other financial information and reports, both for internal and external use. - Compiles financial information for special projects, which could include financial forecasts, trend analysis, historical data compilation, ratio comparisons, etc.
  • Provides support for the accounting of the College's and related entities' debt obligations and capital projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of the College's and related entities' federal and state tax filings, such as IRS Form 990, Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax, Form 990T, Exempt Organization Business Income Tax Return, and the State of New Hampshire Income Tax Returns.
  • Specialized tasks related to specific functions within the Financial Reporting Group will be assigned to each analyst as needed.

Customer service, Outreach, and Training

  • Works with stakeholders around the college to assist with nancial reporting questions, establish CIP accounts, provide training and otherwise support the various divisions of the college.
  • Researches and assists in resolving departmental issues related to the implementation of Dartmouth's accounting policies and procedures.
  • Helps establish appropriate administrative procedures to ensure adherence to College policies, which requires a thorough knowledge of issues relating to internal accounting controls, accounting practices and accounting procedures.

  • Performs reviews of others work and supports nancial reporting team trainings.
  • Leads crossfunctional project teams to redesign policies, roll out new accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and drive associated changemanagement initiatives
