The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a qualifiedSoftware Engineerto support our government customer located at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Are you a DevOps engineer who wants to build robust, scalable infrastructure for cutting-edge AI and machine learning applications?
Do you want to break free from manual deployments and create automated CI/CD pipelines that seamlessly deploy ML models analyzing millions of documents, images, and videos?

We need someone to architect and maintain the infrastructure that supports digitization, OCR, and machine learning analysis of massive datasets. You'll build DevOps, MLOps, and GitOps workflows to manage application and model deployments, create containerized microservices for document processing, and establish monitoring systems for ML pipelines that extract metadata from historical documents and generate time-series data from image analysis.

You'll implement Infrastructure as Code to support transformer model deployments, establish blue-green deployments for video analysis services, and create automated testing pipelines for image summarization and captioning systems. Plus, you'll build search infrastructure and APIs that make these AI-powered analyses discoverable and accessible.

This isn't just about deployment - you'll implement observability across distributed ML services, manage secrets and configurations, and build self-healing systems that automatically scale based on processing demands.

Are you a solid Python developer with strong DevOps fundamentals? Do you understand containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD with tools like Jenkins or GitLab, and infrastructure automation with Terraform or Ansible? Can you build robust APIs and understand GitOps principles for ML model lifecycle management? What about JavaScript for building monitoring dashboards and frontend interfaces?

This role combines DevOps engineering with AI/ML infrastructure - you'll build the foundation that enables breakthrough analysis of text, image, and video data while ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure operations.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary mission of the Defense Threat Reduction Information Analysis Center (DTRIAC) is to provide timely electronic access to all nuclear weapons test data, legacy and current, to U.S. government programs supporting U.S. nuclear deterrent missions. DTRIAC maintains a repository of over 20,000 films, two million photographs, and 60 million pages of documents dating back to The Manhattan Project. Kpili Services is charged with making the above hardcopy materials easily accessible to DTRA deterrent mission researchers in a way that provides knowledge and meaning through the use of digitization, Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and data science workflows.

The DevOps Software Engineer works within a team of software engineers, data scientists and application architects to build and maintain the infrastructure supporting OCR, ML, and AI services that search, organize and characterize digital archive collections. You'll implement CI/CD pipelines for model deployment, manage containerized microservices, and ensure high availability of the archive platform.
