Salary Range: $58,850 - $80,000

Position Summary
The Associate Director of Finance (ADF) is a vital member of the Temple University Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Reporting to the SBDC Director, this position is responsible for managing the day-to-day Temple SBDC financial operations including: grant invoicing and reporting, budget management, proposal preparation, and compliance.

The Associate Director of Finance works closely with the Director in the execution of duties and in planning, organizing, implementing, managing, and evaluating Temple SBDC financial activities, assists in the development and financial management of other Temple SBDC projects and programs. On behalf of the Temple SBDC, the Associate Director of Finance is responsible for initiating, coordinating and ensuring compliance with university procedures, including personnel and fiscal activities, those of the Small Business Administration (SBA), the State of PA, the City of Philadelphia, and others as appropriate.

The incumbent will manage and maintain financial oversight of all SBDC grant and non-grant funded accounts, including monitoring revenue, budget expenditures including transactions, prepare and process journal entries, invoice payments, check requests, cash reimbursements, purchase orders, reconcile department credit cards, review and analyze fund balances; process payroll for student workers, formulate policies and planning the use of facilities, events, and resources, and enforce operating policy and internal controls.

In addition, the ADF provides advanced administration management and guidance, including coordinating funding submissions through the Electronic Research Administration system with Fox Associate Director of Research Administration, coordinating submissions of proposals and subsequent invoices with the University Office of Research (both pre- and post-award), communicating with sponsor on a consistent basis to ensure knowledge is kept current, and maintaining working relationships with other University departments as necessary, including by not limited to Purchasing, Legal Counsel, Accounts Payable and Payroll. The ADF also works closely with staff at Fox to ensure all expenses continue to hit the correct FOAPs during transition to new grant funds.

Job Details
* This position requires a background check for PII/Cash Handling responsibilities.
* This is a grant-funded position.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in the field of Finance, Accounting, and/or Business Management
* At least four (4) years of directly related experience
* Experience with and understanding of general accounting, grant tracking, payroll management, and general business systems and functions
* Analytical capabilities and financial modeling experience
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience
* CPA or MBA
* Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in the field of Finance, Accounting, and/or Business Management

* Proven track record in organizational budgeting and financial management
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships
* Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to lead across team members and drive assignments to completion
* Solid work ethic and high level of motivation
* Demonstrates outstanding accounting and financial management skills
* Intermediate to advanced level of computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Quickbooks; and other accounting software
* Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of employees, students, faculty, and staff
* Requires strong written and verbal communications and presentation skills
* The ability to handle confidential financial matters with discretion
* Expert writing and grammar skills
* Must be able to prepare process flow outlines, diagrams or other graphical depictions of information and processes
* Proficiency with or ability to learn information systems including Banner, Cognos, Kronos, TUmarketplace, and Destiny1
* Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple high priority projects and develop and manage operational systems in a high growth organization

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote) - the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
