Where you will work:This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% remote and is based out of the Freeport, IL; Sycamore, IL; Janesville, WI; Johnson Creek, WI; Prairie du Sac, WI; Sun Prairie, WI office locations.

The contributions you will make: This position provides credible chattel evaluations to internal and external clients by following the provisions of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and maintains sales data and valuation systems.

A typical day:



  • Applies approved chattel valuation practices and procedures to produce credible, reliable, and well supported value conclusions of assets being appraised.
  • Performs chattel appraisals and chattel studies, and other duties. Supports internal and external (fee) client appraisal needs in assigned region.
  • Produces concise reports supporting the valuation of these assets.
  • Inspects assets based on Compeer Financial credit department guidelines.
  • Documents the pertinent characteristics of the assets being valued to ensure they are accurately represented.
  • Conducts market surveys and collects machinery and equipment sales information to support chattel appraisals and asset valuation.
  • Completes continuing education course design for chattel evaluation.
  • Provides training and mentoring to Associate Chattel Evaluators.


The skills and experience we prefer you have:



  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture-business, business administration, finance, economics or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Minimum of 3 years related chattel experience.
  • Knowledge of current agricultural production technologies and trends in the hog, dairy, poultry and related industries; corn, soybeans, and specialty crop production; and related production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
  • Skill in using Microsoft technologies including e-mail, word and spreadsheet processing.
  • Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers and supervisor.
  • Knowledge of client service principles and practices.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
  • Skill in applying appraisal concepts.
  • Skill in maintaining confidential information.

The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.
