THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation in Pike County is seeking a Roadway Programs Technician 2 to take the lead on generating, reviewing, and analyzing information related to budgeting and planning for county maintenance activities. In this role, you will independently evaluate programs, costs, and operational needs to provide informed, data-driven recommendations to management. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will support Pike County's maintenance operations by analyzing material needs, managing procurement and inventory, and coordinating bids, contracts, and vendor communication. You will track costs, material usage, and project data to assist with budgeting, forecasting, and planning, while preparing reports and presenting findings to management. You will also have the opportunity to assist with administrative tasks, serve as a lead worker for RPT 1, and help maintain accurate records, plans, and safety procedures across the county organization. Additional duties include:

  • Maintaining winter and bulk material inventories
  • Updating GIS snow maps
  • Supporting beautification programs
  • Reconciling invoices and purchasing card transactions
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement policies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hawley. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Roadway Programs Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment, and an Associate's Degree in the field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or closely related program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
