The Department of English at the University of Illinois at Chicago is hiring for multiple Lecturer positions for our program in First-Year Writing, as well as our concentration in Professional Writing, and our general English studies curriculum. We seek highly qualified and motivated candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: ELL or TESOL, Professional or Technical Writing, literary and cultural studies. MA, MFA, PhD or equivalent is required. UIC faculty are expected to carry out their responsibilities in person and onsite as part of a vibrant and collegial on-campus community.

Position Summary
Lecturers in the English Department teach a 3/3 load. In addition to teaching, lecturers are responsible for attending required staff meetings and professional development workshops throughout the year, and for performing some service to the department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach three courses per semester
  • Hold office hours
  • Advise students
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    MA, MFA, PhD or equivalent is required.

    Experience in one or more of the following areas: ELL or TESOL, Professional or Technical Writing, literary and cultural studies.
