Come join our dynamic, highly skilled Cardiothoracic (CT) Surgery inpatient APP team. The Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Health Practitioner position has clinical, procedural, administrative, and educational responsibilities in the care of adult patients requiring cardiac and thoracic surgery. The CT surgery service provides advanced surgical treatments, including coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic and mitral valve replacement, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and heart transplantation. We value individuals who are professional, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and able to prioritize and adapt to changing situations. . Our CT surgery APPs manage patients collaboratively across the inpatient continuum of care with CT Surgery Fellows, Cardiac Surgeons, and Intensivists, perform bedside procedures, and assist in the operating room (RNFA certification required) .

Required Qualifications :
Two (2) years' NP experience in adult cardiac surgery, cardiology, or ICU care.

Preferred Qualifications :
Specialty certification: RNFA
RNFA with 1 year of OR experience with EVH and cardiac surgery first assist
One (1) year experience with managing ECMO, VAD and post op heart transplant

License/Certification :
California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
Accepted Certifications for this Adult position. Adult inpatient ( ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC)
Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a nurse practitioner.
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
Current AHA BLS.
Current AHA ACLS.
State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.

UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.

Salary Information


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.


Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
