Communication Specialist IV - Account Manager
W2 Contract Role: Approximately 3 years
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (after onboarding, on-site work required 3 days per week in Charlotte, NC)
Position Summary
The Communications Consultant - Account Manager is responsible for managing the development and execution of communications projects to ensure message and brand consistency and alignment with organizational strategies. This role supports marketing and brand campaigns, promotes products and services, and leverages integrated strategies across multiple communication channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Account Manager and primary communications strategist, advisor, and coordinator for advertising, brand, and creative communications initiatives. Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of communications plans aligned to business objectives. Collaborate with corporate communications and other internal stakeholders, providing insights to support planning and performance evaluation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients on communications projects. Develop and manage project plans, including timelines and budgets.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their business goals, customers, and key challenges. Maintain open and effective communication, including appropriate in-person engagement and participation in client meetings.
- Partner with Creative Services teams (e.g., copywriters, designers) on marketing, advertising, and creative development to ensure consistent, on-strategy execution. Ensure deliverables are high quality, timely, and cost-efficient while following established workflow processes.
- Collaborate with digital communications channel teams to enhance online marketing channels and ensure adherence to established processes.
- Be available to support after-hours crisis or storm response as a secondary Account Manager for a limited portion of the year.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or a related field
- 8+ years of account management and/or creative project management experience
- Experience in advertising, branding, and marketing communications
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience producing integrated campaigns (e.g., print collateral, video, digital media, social media, radio)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint)
- Experience using a work management system (e.g., Workamajig or similar)
- Proven ability to resolve communications issues and collaborate effectively with clients and stakeholders
- Ability to build, develop, and maintain strong client relationships
- Experience providing strategic communications counsel and advice
- Comfort working in a highly matrixed environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop communications strategies tied to measurable business results
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Self-motivated with the ability to follow through with minimal direct supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in the energy or utilities industry
- Familiarity with Kanban or similar workflow management principles
Additional Information
- Occasional overtime may be required to support special projects or crisis response (approximately 10-15% annually)
The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $49-$51 per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
