Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the processing of bi-weekly payroll. Reviews payroll reports for accuracy, performs necessary entry and adjustments.
  • Maintains the online time keeping system. Assists with access issues. Monitors the submission and approval of recorded time and time off requests.
  • Performs new hire Social Security verifications with the Social Security Administration.
  • Prepares bi-weekly payroll deduction registers, supplier invoice requests, and vendor payments.
  • Processes off-cycle payroll check payments.
  • Responds to payroll inquiries. Researches and resolves issues related to payroll and reported time.
  • Assists with the preparation and distribution of W-2 reprints.
  • Assists with the calculation and reporting of non-cash fringe benefits.
  • Assists with the testing of payroll related system configurations and upgrades.

Other Duties:

  • Adheres to established standards on the use and protection of restricted data as outlined inFGCUPolicy 3.042. Responsible for completing the 'Get Secure' training course annually.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires a high school diploma and four years of relevant full-time experience.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience with general accounting procedures.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field.
  • Payroll experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with Workday Payroll and time tracking modules.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of local, state, federal, and University rules, regulations, policies, and laws pertaining to payroll and tax issues.
    • Knowledge of or ability to learn Banner or similar enterprise payroll management software application.
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects.
    • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
    • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
    • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and competing demands are involved.
    • Ability to use effective decision making and problem solving techniques.
    • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures consistently.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
    • Proven ability to think strategically and approach challenges with creativity.
    • Demonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, and holding oneself accountable.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively across teams.

    Pay Grade 14

    This position is 30 hours per week.
