Job Title:

Electronics Product Engineer

Reporting To:

Management, Product Engineering

Work Schedule:

Onsite - Buffalo, NY

Moog is hiring an Electronics Product Engineer in our Military Aircraft Group for an onsite position in East Aurora, NY. As an Electronics Product Engineer, you will provide technical support for Moog's electronics products for military aircraft programs through the production phase of the product life cycle. Primary areas of responsibility include supporting production assembly and test areas by resolving issues, maintaining product integrity, and influencing product cost.

Reporting directly to the Electronics Product Engineering Manager, an Electronics Product Engineer provides engineering support for 1-2 product lines, that are typically mature in their production life cycle. However, there are opportunities to gain exposure to program development and new product introduction (NPI), along with production supplier transfers and supporting the supply chain with product delivery.

As an Electronics Product Engineer you will have responsibility for providing technical guidance and working collaboratively in a team environment to support the Assembly and Test operations. You will be expected to provide leadership and be accountable for on time delivery and quality of the product you are assigned. While you may find yourself as the technical lead for the operations team, you will have support from Senior Product Engineers when needed, to ensure mission success and develop growth. This is a unique role where no two days are the same. You will wear many hats as an Electronics Product Engineer, often acting as a Project Engineer, Project Manager/Leader, Test Equipment Engineer and Design Engineer to name a few. The product engineering role will expose you many engineering disciplines, as every discipline plays a critical role in a successful production environment.

In your role as an Electronics Product Engineer, you can expect to support production by:

  • Assuring and maintaining product integrity, quality and on-time delivery of production products. You will do this by collaborating with Moog personnel, resolving production problems, assist in troubleshooting test failures, monitoring and resolving first pass yield (FPY) issues, servicing non-conformances, performing Material Review Board (MRB) analyses, and assisting in evaluation for possible notice of escape to customers.

  • Identifying areas for producibility and quality improvements in product design and initiate these changes and planning for schedule impacts.

  • Support the facilitation of design changes by redlining drawings, attending Change Review Board (CRB) and starting the ECN process.

  • Establish tasks and schedules for Product Engineering on team-based projects.

  • Initiating clear production assembly/test instructions and providing training to operations personnel to maintain efficient production. These instructions include formal Work Instructions, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP / PAT), engineering memos, and Electronic Historical Record (EHR) entries.

  • Provide timely information to all affected operating groups regarding potential problems with quality, schedule and cost.

  • Tracking key company metrics including, but not limited to first pass yield, and product cost objectives to maintain and improve our performance and goals.

  • Coordinating and interfacing with internal/external customers and/or suppliers to maintain design integrity, producibility and quality in products.

  • Lead Root Cause Corrective Action analyses and projects that ensure long-term solutions to prevent recurring problems.

  • Function as the customer/vendor point of contact for all technical electronics production related questions.

  • Maintain close contact with Moog Program Management to insure "no surprises" when talking to their customers.

To be considered for Product Engineer role, here's what you'll typically bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

  • Electronics knowledge from the product level down to the circuit and component levels - circuit analysis and troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of electronics test and measurement equipment

  • Knowledge of printed circuit board assembly processes

  • Have self-starting instincts, solid analytical skills, and a strong sense of ownership for responsible products.

  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate at all levels of an organization, including working with technicians, customers and/or suppliers/sub-contract suppliers.

  • Ability to work onsite in East Aurora, NY on a regular basis (remote candidates will not be considered).

  • The ability to travel, sometimes on short notice, to customers, contract manufacturers, suppliers, etc., to support the product line - 10 - 15% of the year.

  • This job requires access to United States export-controlled information

It'd be great if you also had:

  • Experience in the aerospace or other regulated industry

  • General knowledge in the areas of Root Cause / Corrective Action, LEAN, Project Planning, Product line transfers and Data Acquisition and Analysis

  • Knowledge of quality and production related standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100D, IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001

How we care for you:

  • Financial Rewards: great compensation package, annual profit sharing, matching 401k and the ability to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts

  • Work/Life Balance: Flexible paid time off, holidays and parental leave program, relocation assistance
