Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to support the development of a data visualization and integration framework linking product Bill of Materials (BOM) structures to sales order configurations for the purpose of performing tool-level Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

This project will improve our ability to calculate the environmental impact of configured semiconductor tools by connecting engineering BOM data with commercial sales configurations, enabling more accurate and scalable product carbon footprint analysis.

This is a high-visibility project with cross-functional exposure to Engineering, Sustainability, IT, and Commercial Operations.

Key Responsibilities
* Analyze and map product Bill of Materials (BOM) structures across selected tool platforms
* Develop a visualization model to:
* Display hierarchical BOM architecture
* Identify configurable modules and options
* Highlight environmental impact drivers (mass, materials, energy components)
* Create a framework to interface BOM data with sales order configurations
* Support development of logic to:
* Map configured sales orders to material content
* Enable tool-specific Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) modeling
* Assist in identifying data gaps and inconsistencies impacting LCA accuracy
* Collaborate with Engineering, PLM, ERP, Sustainability, and IT teams
* Document system architecture and recommend scalable improvements
* Present findings and prototype tools to leadership

Project Objectives

By the end of the internship, the intern will aim to:
1. Develop a working visualization of a selected tool BOM
2. Demonstrate traceability between sales order configurations and material content
3. Create a prototype framework enabling automated LCA inputs at tool level
4. Provide recommendations for enterprise-scale implementation

Desired Qualifications
* Pursuing a degree in:
* Environmental Engineering
* Industrial Engineering

* Sustainability or related field
* Strong analytical and data modeling skills
* Familiarity with:
* SQL, Python, or data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
* ERP/PLM systems (SAP, Oracle, Teamcenter, etc.) preferred
* Interest in sustainability, product carbon footprinting, or Life Cycle Assessment
* Ability to work cross-functionally and independently

Preferred Skills (Not Required)
* Exposure to Life Cycle Assessment methodologies (ISO 14040/44)
* Experience working with complex hierarchical datasets
* Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing tools or industrial equipment
* Experience handling large structured data sets

Minimum Qualifications

Requires less than 1 year of related experience
