What You'll Do In this role, you will perform all core Payroll Specialist responsibilities while taking on additional accounting, reconciliation, and reporting duties. Your work will directly support financial accuracy, compliance, and employee trust. Key Responsibilities include:
Process and maintain payroll records, including tax status, garnishments, support orders, and banking information. Verify, research, and process bi-weekly payroll by importing and reconciling data across systems such as ADP, Kronos, and SmartBen. Prepare, post, and reconcile journal entries and monthly payroll-related accounts. Balance and control payroll earnings and deduction totals to ensure accuracy and compliance Audit and review timekeeping records to ensure adherence to established standards and policies. Enter and maintain accurate W-4 and direct deposit information. Process off-cycle payrolls, payroll corrections, on-demand checks, and final pay in compliance with company and state regulations. Prepare payroll data for financial statements and produce recurring and ad hoc management reports. Research payroll variances and resolve issues in partnership with Accounting and Finance. Support internal and external audits, including SOX and third-party audits (e.g., EY). Provide backup support for Accounting Operations as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned while maintaining high standards of attendance and professionalism
What We're Looking For Experience & Education
5-8 years of progressive payroll or accounting experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred Associate degree with relevant payroll or accounting experience required Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion Experience collaborating effectively with all levels of an organization Comfortable working under pressure in high-volume payroll cycles Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies Intermediate proficiency with payroll, HRIS, and accounting systems Demonstrated commitment to ethical, inclusive, and professional business practices
Working Conditions:
Professional office environment. Hybrid work model, 3 days in office and 2 days remote, allowing flexibility between remote and in-office work.
