Position Summary:
This position assumes the day-to-day responsibilities of ensuring customer payments are received timely, and properly applied to open receivables. Analyzes customer accounts to determine reconciliation path needed to maintain a clear account picture.
There are two levels of AR Analyst: Entry level and Senior, differentiated by an incumbents years of experience, complexity of customer accounts managed (Senior roles typically carry accounts with higher volume of sales, deductions and multiple portals to access information), exert more independent level of decision making and involvement in special projects and ad hoc projects as they surface.
What you will do in this role:
- Ensure cash application accuracy and efficiency by performing accounts receivable reconciliation.
- Work with Sales team and customer to resolve disputes and/or discrepancies on accounts
- Handle chargeback reconciliations and related deductions
- May assist cash application associates with month-end posting
- Assist with all audits, obtaining all back-up related to cash application and work with Treasurer and auditors as needed
- Complete a detailed analysis in Excel, highlighting deductions by grouping (returns, pricing, co-op programs) (performed quarterly and annually)
- Work on customers portal(s) to obtain remittance files to apply payments and file any disputes with the customers.
The Senior AR Analyst may back up daily banking reports and requirements and assist the Finance team with ad hoc research, reporting and projects as it pertains to A/R.
What we look for in a candidate:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Senior Analyst should have 2-5 years of experience in accounts receivable.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel Proficient with v-lookups and able to work with and manipulate a lot of data on a daily basis.
Additional skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Good problem solving skills.
