Description

This position reports directly to the Manager of Shipping and Remelt. Utilizing independent judgment, this position directs his/her crew of employees in the receiving, preparation, remelting and shipping of material in a safe and productive manner. Responsible for monitoring all functions of the remelting facility and EQS/ENS A-space warehouse.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  1. Possess a strong commitment to a safe work environment and practices and maintains adherence to Company Safety Policies through the utilization of good supervisory practices.
  2. Supports the Company philosophy concerning unions and works to maintain a union free environment through the utilization of good supervisory practices.
  3. Mentors, trains and develops team members in accordance with Ellwood values.
  4. Ensures team member training effectiveness and completes necessary documentation.
  5. Provides hands-on assistance for all remelting operations as necessary
  6. Supervises personnel in receiving, preparation, remelting and shipping within the remelting facility
  7. Directs the Remelt Operator(s) in furnace preparation and remelting operations
  8. Directs the Preparation and Finishing Operator(s) in receiving, preparation, finishing and shipping operations
  9. Ensures correct and complete documentation for all remelt operations
  10. Oversees remelting process and performs real-time adjustments to profiles where necessary to ensure high-quality production
  11. Schedules remelting furnaces for optimized productivity
  12. Assists in troubleshooting of remelting and auxiliary equipment and software
  13. Participates in the investigation of non-conforming materials
  14. Enforces all manufacturing instructions and operating procedures.
  15. Assists in the development of operating procedures.
  16. Assists in continuous improvement and capital investment efforts in the remelt facility
  17. Holds remelting crew responsible for high quality, high volume productivity utilizing good safety practices.
  18. Coordinates with Shipping Department for efficient material movement and finishing operations.
  19. Oversees the entire remelting facility and Shipping areas during the off shifts.
  20. Report all incidents, near misses, defective material and faulty equipment immediately.
  21. Maintain working area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  22. Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules.
  23. Must have ability and desire to work well with others.
  24. Meets attendance standards.
  25. Performs other duties as deemed necessary.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. College degree in natural sciences would be a plus.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five (5) years' experience in steel manufacturing environment. Remote crane operation, welding experience and demonstrated leadership experience are a plus.

SKILLS: Proficiency in Windows (including Microsoft Office applications), solid understanding of algebra and mathematic fundamentals. Demonstrated leadership capability.

DRIVING: Required to have an active and valid driver's license, or the ability to travel and commute as required, and comply with the Motor Vehicle Safety Program.

EQS TRAINING: Theoretical Steelmaking Course, Theoretical Remelting Course (to be provided during training period).
