Airport Worker (Seasonal)


General Mitchell International Airport


Hourly Pay Rate: $21.29




Job Summary: After completing initial training, work shifts as needed. Seasonal staff will be called in for active snow removal efforts and to be on standby in preparation for impending snow. Areas of responsibility for snow removal to include on and off the airfield and in the public areas of the Airport. In addition to snow removal operations, seasonals will also be responsible for landscaping of grounds, litter and trash clean up, operating and maintain equipment and vehicles, and other tasks, as necessary.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:




  • Snow removal: Perform Snow Removal Operations as needed during winter weather.
  • Operate motorized vehicles: Operate motorized vehicles, including pickup trucks with trailers, riding mowers, weed eaters and leaf blowers.
  • Mow and trim grass: Mow and trim grass on Airport grounds and outlying properties owned by the Airport.
  • Maintain flower beds: Maintain flower beds. Plant, cultivate, pull weed and fertilize.
  • Pick litter and sweep pavements.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Current valid WI Driver's License.
  • High school diploma or G. E. D.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 60 lbs. and push/pull up to 60Ibs. is required.
  • Able to work long hours during emergency situations and in adverse weather.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Valid CDL



NOTE: This original application is open to permanent residents of the United States. Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during incumbency. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
