THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair and general improvements of the buildings, landscaping, grounds, parking lots, sidewalks, fences and all mechanical systems at the Southwest Regional Office. Duties consist of monitoring and scheduling maintenance, repairing or installing water pipes, furnaces, air-conditioning units, electrical service and other equipment as needed. Work includes painting, minor renovations, carpentry, and maintaining all restroom facilities to include repairs and upgrades. You can expect to Install and repair electrical circuits, light fixtures and outlets and repair and replace interior water lines and plumbing fixtures. In winter months, snow and ice removal will be included in your duties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • You will be considered an essential employee which requires reporting into the office location in time of an emergency.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
