Job Summary

The Data & Business Intelligence Manager plays a key role in leading KeyBank's federated analytics model by enhancing the data experience across the enterprise. This role is responsible for managing a high-performance team that maintains and optimizes analytic data marts, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the development of trusted data assets. The Manager leads cross-functional work product with analytics, operations, and technology teams to solve business problems, improve data quality, promote best practices in data usage, and drive strategy that aligns with business goals.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and enhance KeyBank's Google Cloud-based Analytics Marts, including Star Marts and Client Analytics Marts (CAM).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for assigned data domains and marts.
  • Lead enterprise data quality efforts, including testing, validation, and documentation.
  • Analyze large and small datasets to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate onsite with operations and support teams to address tool functionality and capability gaps.
  • Manage user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure high-quality releases and user experiences.
  • Engage with the analytics community to promote data literacy, identify issues, and drive solutions.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements and provide consulting on data usage.
  • Partner with the Data Literacy team to integrate data concepts with lineage, cataloging, and governance.
  • Provide thought leadership on the evolution of enterprise analytics and data strategy.
  • Oversee resolution of data incidents in collaboration onsite with LOB and technology partners.
  • Ensure alignment of data solutions with KeyBank's technology roadmap and governance standards.
  • Manage and mentor a team, working to develop new capabilities and meet department targets.

  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key's clients and Key.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, Statistics (preferred) or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Master's Degree (preferred)

Work Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data product management (required)
  • 1+ years of experience managing teams (preferred)
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platforms (required)
  • Expertise with enterprise data environments and federated analytics models (required)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Training or certification in SQL, Python, or cloud platforms (preferred)
  • Training or certifications in data governance, data cataloging, and data lineage tools (preferred)

  • The ability to write and execute structured queries using languages like SQL to retrieve, manipulate, and analyze data from databases.
  • Creating clear and effective visual representations of data-such as charts, graphs, and dashboards-to communicate insights and support storytelling.
  • The use of tools, systems, and practices to transform raw data into meaningful insights that inform strategic and operational decisions.
  • Applying policies, standards, and practices to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across the organization.
  • Designing logical and physical data structures that define how data is stored, related, and accessed within systems to support reporting and analytics.
  • Developing recurring and ad hoc reports that summarize data findings and provide actionable insights to business stakeholders.
  • The ability to logically evaluate data, identify relationships, and draw conclusions to solve problems and support decision-making.
  • Understanding and prioritizing the needs of internal and external clients when developing data solutions and delivering insights.
  • Manage the planning, coordination, and execution of data-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
  • Effectively sharing information with senior leaders and working with cross-functional teams to solve problems, align on goals, and deliver results.
  • Identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and developing practical solutions using data and critical thinking.
  • Understanding how to work with cloud-based data platforms and tools, including data storage, processing, and analytics capabilities.
  • Ability to assemble and lead diverse teams to deliver high-quality service and solutions.
  • Building new programs from the ground up and continuously improving existing initiatives by championing new ideas and leveraging insights from other areas of the enterprise and the data community.

Physical Demands

  • General Office - Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face to face in person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $96,000.00 - $181,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
