Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Examines and cares for children and adults with eye problems. Performs skilled eye examinations under the supervision of an ophthalmologist.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs a variety of moderately complex diagnostic ophthalmic testing including: medical history, measurement of age-appropriate visual acuity, lensometry, tonometry and basic sensorimotor evaluation.
  • May perform ophthalmic imaging as directed. Records results of tests with all supporting documentation for clinical interpretation. Instills diagnostic eye drops and takes external photographs as part of the clinical exam.
  • Assists department with regulatory compliance. Knowledge in aspects of safety applicable to position; Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, JCAHO, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies standards.
Education:
Bachelor's degree AND current enrollment in an Orthoptic fellowship program accredited by the American Orthoptic Council program.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
