As a Locomotive Maintenance Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring diesel locomotives operate at peak performance through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and field service support.

Hours and Pay

• Pay Rate: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
• Schedule: Full-time (field-based responsibilities included)
• Location: Houston, TX, and surrounding areas

Daily Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled locomotive maintenance and repair on diesel and electrical systems
• Conduct fueling, sanding, and daily inspections to ensure operational readiness
• Execute preventive maintenance procedures, including cleaning, oiling, and system adjustments
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, and air brake systems
• Travel locally to perform field service maintenance using company vehicles
• Complete visual inspections of locomotives and maintenance equipment
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and logbooks, including work order completion
• Collaborate with team members and communicate equipment issues and operational updates
• Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
• Support continuous improvement efforts and assist with special projects as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in diesel engine or electrical repair
• Strong knowledge of basic mechanics and machine testing procedures
• Understanding of equipment maintenance and repair operations
• Ability to use mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Ability to work independently and manage maintenance schedules and priorities
