Overview

The Vision Field Application Engineer (FAE) is a cornerstone of technical support and technical development for the Imaging Business Unit (IBU). Proactively supports organization's standard and custom machine vision and imaging products by interacting with established customers & developing new prospects. Has an in depth knowledge of industries using industrial imaging technologies. Applies a broad knowledge of the organization's services, products and marketing techniques to close sales and capture market share. Activities are primarily carried out within a defined territory, region or area.



Responsibilities

    Develops and owns relationship with key, regional imaging/vision customers and partners
  • Supports the development of imaging customers with regional sales and BD
  • Identifies new opportunities and trends in imaging
  • Maintain and develop the "Solution Center" regional and support expansion globally
  • Provide onsite training for specific customers and organizations
  • Visits existing and potential customers to address customer needs, identify requirements & key contacts, deliver sales presentations and develop business relationships.
  • Interacts and co-ordinates activities with Regional Sales Managers, Solution Engineers, EO Account Reps, OEM Sales Reps, Product Development, Product Line Management & Engineering.
  • Develops customer relationships with key decision makers in engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance and purchasing.
  • Penetrate and maintain channels to market for Imaging Optics beyond the catalog.
  • Identifies and explores leads from various sources via phone and in person.
  • Prepares reports on all customer contacts.
  • Tradeshow participation and attendance.
  • Travel 10-15%
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Previous experience and advanced sales skills, strong presentation skills are desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Vision/Automation is required, Optics and optical industry knowledge is desirable.
  • Computer skills; PC literacy in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent phone and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with customers. Strong networking and relationship building skills are a must.
  • Professional demeanor
  • Excellent phone etiquette
  • Proficient in Active Listening
  • Must use Critical Thinking/Deductive Reasoning
  • Ability to provide technical support for EO products, specifically Vision and Imaging related
  • Must work Independently
  • Must have a high stress tolerance
  • Requires minimal supervision and direction
  • Other requirements as determined by management.

Education/Experience

Bachelors preferred in Engineering, Physics or related or equivalent technical work - related experience

Five to ten years+ of work related to Vision/Imaging or Factory Automation experience required. Successful sales and strong customer service skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; ability to travel; work in office setting.

Compensation Range Transparency:

At Edmund Optics, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The posted salary range for this role reflects the expected base pay. The actual offer will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, work experience, business needs, and geographic location.

Salary Range:
$140,000 - $160,000 per year
