The Team Leader - Accessory provides leadership and supervision to assigned team members, and actively promotes development of team members through effective evaluation and feedback. In addition, this and ensures the team provides a quality product to the customer in an efficient and professional manner. Balances customer and company needs by working closely with CARS and technician to provide a quality product on time. In addition, this position tests, adjusts, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls core aircraft accessory components. Assists manager by demonstrating leadership in a way that supports company and departmental goals and objectives.

Essential Job Functions



  1. Manages team by monitoring day-to-day activities of team members. Monitors day-to-day activities of team members. Holds team members accountable to Duncan approved policies and procedures including professionalism, safety, and cleanliness of the work environment. Ensures the team's consistent use of appropriate technical data.

  2. Manages assigned shop area to meet customer's expectations, manufacturer's requirements, and Company's established goals and objectives for providing quality and efficient repairs and overhauls of aircraft instruments and avionics components by ensuring adequate equipment, staffing, parts, etc. Reviews team's monthly P&L's and assists management in developing an annual budget. Ensures the safety and security of customer's equipment during all maintenance.

  3. Promotes growth and development of assigned team members to promote team cohesiveness and trust by monitoring and evaluating team members' performance in a professional, positive, accurate and timely manner. Recommends training needs and programs to the department management and identifies and recommends technical and non-technical training opportunities for team members. Interprets company policies for team members and ensures adherence to safety policies and practices. Participates in personal and leadership development opportunities and demonstrates leadership and professionalism at all times.

  4. Has the ability to Inspect, troubleshoot, repair or overhaul core accessory components using hand tools, power tools, ground support equipment, test equipment and technical publications. Ensures compliance with RSGOM, Duncan Aviation processes and FARs. May serve as QI with RTS authority for components and aircraft systems.

  5. Performs other duties as assigned by management.



Job Specific Requirements



  • Licenses/Certificates: Repairman's Certificate; QI designation; valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; respirator fit eligible
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical: Routinely lifts 50 lbs., occasionally lifts 100 lbs.; reads small print; hearing sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working extreme temperatures and noisy environments



Education and Experience



  • Associates Degree in related field or equivalent required
  • Minimum five years aviation component related maintenance experience required
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
