Mott MacDonald is looking for professionals to join our ever-expanding transportation team here in theWesternNew Yorkarea. We are currently looking for aSenior Construction InspectorIIIwith experience inhighway,bridge,and other transportation infrastructure construction projects. The successful candidateis required tounderstand construction industry standards and practices in thetransportationsectorandhaveexperience working on relevant public agency projects.

The successful candidate will:



  • Have a proven and verifiabletrack recordoverseeing a team ofinspectors on a diverse range ofconstructionprojectsincluding but not limited tobridge, highway, culvert,andrelatedtransportation improvementprojects.





  • Knowledgeable ofOSHA regulations and safety procedures and practices related to transportation construction activities including Maintenance and Protection of Traffic requirements and guidelines.





  • Possess NICET Level III certification or equivalent combinationof education and experience.





  • Have valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.



Description of Duties:



  • Candidate will report to the Resident Engineer or Project Manager tomonitorthe daily construction activities, track and report quantities,assembleprogress photos and videosas needed, and prepare dailyworkreports. Monitor safety and quality requirements of the construction and report status to the client on a regular basis.





  • Provide oversight and direction toless experiencedconstruction inspection staff.





  • Maintainprojectrecords andcoordinate communication between client,contractor, and other stakeholders as needed.





  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications on construction projects and make engineering-based decisions as needed.





  • Must be willing toworkweekends and/orweeknightsas necessary.





  • Ensureswork is completedin accordance withcontract documentsand agencyspecifications.



Candidate Qualifications:



  • 5+yearsinspection experiencerelated to highway and bridge construction includingNewYork State Department of Transportation,NewYork State Thruway Authority,and/orlocally-administeredFederal-Aid projects.





  • Proficiencywith computers and standard word processing and spreadsheet softwareapplications.





  • Must be client service focused, embrace a safety culture, be a team player, and communicate well with multiple stakeholders.





  • NICET Level III Certification orequivalent education/experience.






  • Experience with NYSDOT Site Manager, Appia, and similar applications preferred.





  • Familiarity with NYSDOT Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK) preferred.Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.





  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is $69,000 - $84,000.
