Lab and Waste Treatment Technician - Peru, IL

Pay Rate: $20.03 to $28.42 depending on experience.

Shift: 1st shift, 5:00 am - 1:00 pm

As a Lab and Waste Treatment Technician, at PPG Peru, IL, plant, you will be a crucial part of our operations, ensuring that a quality product is available to our customers when they need them. Your work will directly affect people's lives!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control the operation of clarifier systems to ensure efficient separation of solids from wastewater.
  • Adjust flow rates, chemical dosages, and other parameters to optimize performance.
  • Conduct regular tests on water quality, including turbidity, pH, and solids concentration.
  • Record and analyze data to identify trends and make necessary adjustments to processes.
  • Perform routine maintenance on clarifier equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and submit reports on clarifier performance and maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in training programs to stay updated on best practices and new technologies in wastewater treatment.
  • Work closely with other operators, engineers, and maintenance personnel to ensure the overall efficiency of the wastewater treatment process.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in water treatment or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in wastewater treatment or a related field is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of clarifier operations, water quality testing, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
